Chapter 28

Thabal felt really better after a long shower, which was supposed to be a quick and short one. She was dressed in comfortable pajamas and had started her minimal skincare routine.

She started tapping toner gently onto her cheeks. Her smooth skin absorbing the liquid diligently. She was standing by the desk mirror, fully relaxed. She squeezed out some moisturizer and applied it on her face and arms.

"Hmm hmm hmm" she hummed a song of her own. Feeling a cold refreshing feeling surged through her. Bathing was her favourite part of the day. But! Only during summer. Winters and bathing don't go together.

"Hawa ke jhoke aaj mausam mo se ruth gaye. Gulo ke sokhiya jo bhabde aake lut gaye. Badal rahi hai jindagi ki chal jara. Issi bahane mein bhi-" her singing session was interrupted by an unexpected knock.

Thabal froze at it. She frowned. Most of the junior students hadn't returned, and the few seniors who were around rarely ventured this far down the wing. Who could it be? Maybe one of the hostel caretakers?

It was very unusual of them to come now at her door. Still she thought to open it up. What harm would be there in a a girl's hostel. Right?

"Just a minute!" she called out, walking slowly toward the door. She felt a slight nervous flutter, being alone in the empty hostel made every unexpected sound feel bigger.

She pulled the door open slowly. Just a small gap, for only her head to be visible so that she could see the person and if needed close the door immediately before the person could intervene in.

But. The person standing outside was beyond her expectations. She didn't need to ask who it was. Standing right outside her door, looking impossibly tall and out of place in the hostel door was Vikram.

He was leaning against the frame, he wore a casual outfit. Not the formal one. He wore a dark green sweatpants and a black t shirt. In such a simple dress, he was looking more attractive than any men she had ever seen. He was effortlessly handsome. So damn good looking.

He had a small smile tugged over her lips. Thabal's eyes went wide in complete shock.

"What the" she muttered to herself. Seeing him standing infront of her. How? Kaise? Kyu? Why? How did he come in to her hostel???

"A-aap. Kya kar rahe hai udhar" Thabal stuttered with wide eyes. Her jaw felt like it dropped down the floor.

"Itna yaad aagayi tum toh milne hi aagaya. Abhi under aane bhi dogi ki nahi?" He raised an eyebrow to her playfully. Thabal got surprised for a moment, not able to grasp the situation. But nonetheless she gave space for him to enter in.

As he did, she closed the door back and immediately rushed to him.

"Aap andar kaise aaye? Like seriously? Aap chup ke aaye na? Hamari warden bohot nakchari hai agar parents ko bol diya toh bohot problem hoga-" she blabbed in a go without stopping. Her rant was stopped when Vikram inched near her and covered her mouth with his huge palm. His whole hand covered her chin area.

"Chupke aana choro ka kam hai. You think i will ever come like a damn thief?" He smirked to which she widened her eyes in question.

"Warden meri jaan pehechan ki thi. Toh" he gestured with his eyes to himself. He then slowly removed his palm from her mouth.

"Pagal ho kya aap. Abhi raat ko aagaye? Woh bhi itna suddenly!" She whispered yelled at him. To which he smirked and inched even closer towards her.

"Kisine bola tha ki she is craving for something more tastier. Toh aagaya mein" he said lifting his left arm and showing the plastic containers of food, he brought. Thabal felt her eyes widened at it. She didn't noticed it earlier.

"You smell good" he suddenly whispered. His voice becoming husky and erotic. Thabal subconsciously clenched her thighs hearing him. And also lowered her face down. Her face started burning all of a sudden by his closeness and the way he was speaking.

Is it possible to be turned on just by hearing a voice? When did she became like this? So desperate and needy?

Vikram suddenly lowered his head down and leaned to her level. Making her breath hitched. What the hell!! Will he kiss now? Seriously? Her palm started getting sweaty and moist. They were alone in her room. With no one to interrupt at all.

They could do anything. The thought itself made her shiver. Just as she was lost in her thoughts, she suddenly felt his nose nudging on her left cheek. She closed her eyes immediately at it.

Vikram rubbed his nose on her cheek for a few seconds before inhaling her scent. Thabal subconsciously lifted up her hands and clenched over his t shirt.

He leaned back and smile smugly at her timid reaction.

"Madam, khana khana hai ki nahi?" He asked in a teasing manner. To which Thabal flung her eyes open. She pushed him away with a flustered look over her face. She didn't said anything. Because no words came from her lips. She was just speechless.

Thabal turned her back to him, pretending to clear a space on her cluttered desk just to hide the frantic thumping of her heart. The silence in the room felt heavy, charged with the lingering warmth of his touch and the scent of his cologne.

"Khana... haan, bhook toh lagi hai" she finally managed to say, her voice meeking slower than usual. She risked a glance over her shoulder and immediately regretted it. Vikram didn't move immediately. He watched her with an amused, knowing glint in his eyes, as if he could see right through her flustered exterior.

He walked toward the small table near her bed. Grabbing it, he placed it on the open floor and sat down on the floor comfortably. He looked so large, so solid in her cramped hostel room. a predatory grace contained within four narrow walls.

He began unpacking the containers. The aroma of rich spices, Chicken chowmein, chicken biryani, malai kofta. All of it immediately filled the room. Thabal's stomach gave an involuntary, traitorous growl.

Vikram chuckled.

"Pata nahi tha itna bhukh laga tha madam ko" he teased. Before she could say anything more. Thabal felt herself being pulled on her hand. She glanced at him slowly to see him gesturing her to sit, beside him.

Slowly she sat down, her knees brushing against his leg in the tight space. She froze for a second, but Vikram didn't pull away. Instead, he leaned forward.

"Khalo. Bhook lagi hai tumhe" he gestured. To which she nodded and turned to the tempting food but then again turned to him.

"Aap bhi khawo. Mein aakele yeh sab thodi khaaungi" she gestured for him to eat too. To which he just smiled.

"Mein yeh sab nahi khawunga. Mere liye kuch aur hai" he answered, making her confused. Before she could question him. He rised up and walked towards the small kitchen. He raked his eyes around till it landed on a covered plate. When opened the lid, his eyes greeted with her freshly made poha.

A smile tugged on his lips at it. The thing he was craving for. He grabbed the plate and went towards her, taking his previous space to sit down. As Thabal saw him coming back with the poha, she was confused as hell.

"Aap yeh khayenge?" She eyed him a confused look to which he nodded simply. Only to be given a look of disgust.

"Vikram! Kaha apna dimag chorke aaye hai aap. Isko choro. Yeh khaw. Woh aacha bhi nahi hai" she said and tried snatching the plate from him but he hid it behind his back. Thabal stood up to take it, inching near him closer. To which he whispered.

"Jyada pass aayi toh kiss kardunga" Thabal froze at it. Her heart thummed like a hammer. Her cheeks redder than a blush. She didn't really noticed the closeness until he decided to tease her about it.

She slowly sat back on her place with heated cheeks. Her head low with embarassment.

"Aap ase hi yeh sab nahi bol sakte samjhe" she muttered avoiding his gaze. Whereas Vikram was having a good time watching her flustered self. He smirked as he watched her.

"Achaa? Par article 19 ke tehet. Every individual has the right to speak" he clicked his tongue against his cheek playfully. Thabal groaned at it.

"Chup karo" she glared at him, eyeing him a threatening look. Unknown to the fact that it made him fall for her more than before.

'itni sundar hai. Itni cute bhi. Koi kaise pagal nahi hoga iske liye' he thought internally, while eyeing her. His eyes softened as he watched her. All shy and red. She was such an invisible book. Anyone could read through her. But, no one was allowed to. Only he could read her, in and out.

"Aapko poha itna pasand hai?" She asked, bringing him out of his thoughts.

"Nahi" he answered, yet continued to eat it. Thabal frowned at it.

"Toh kha kyu rahe ho?" She asked in confusion.

"Because you made it" he simply shrugged as if it was nothing. And and. Thabal didn't need anything more to get herself folded. She looked away from him and smiled furiously. Her cheeks coated with a red hue.

"You know I love your smile. So agar tum meri taraf murke hasti toh mujhe aacha lagta" he teased her, adding more to her shyness.

Vikram took a scoop of the briyani on the spoon and held it infront of her. Thabal slowly turned, facing him and took a bite from the spoon. And as soon as she did. Her eyes widened.

"It's so. It's so freaking awesome. Like so damn tasty" she expressed gleefully. She quickly snatched the spoon from him and dug in to her meal.

"Umm" she closed her eyes and moaned in delight. The taste melting on her tongue smoothly. Invading all her taste buds.

"Oh My God. This is so top notch" she grinned looking at him.

"Here here. Taste it" she forwarded her a spoonful too. But Vikram smiled and denied.

"Tum khao. Tumhare liye laya tha. I have eaten it before too" Thabal tsked and inched the spoon closer.

"Mein khila rahi hoon na. Toh chup chap khaw na" she frowned at him so adorably that it was hard for him to deny. With a twitched on his lips, he opened his mouth, allowing her to feed him.

She watched him as he ate, his presence filling the room with a sense of security that no locked door could ever match. A smile immediately adorned on her face. She just wanted to capture this moment in her life forever.

"Wait" Thabal said suddenly, wiping her hands. She stood up from her place and sat back down, this time with her phone.

She grinned looking at him before opening the camera.

"Chalo chalo pose" with that, she took various clicks, making him do different poses. Such poses which he had never done in his life. Some while eating, some of the poses were of her feeding him, or the other way around.

She even took a  2 min video of them eating and nudged him to smile at the camera too.

"Ahaa! I have a very important thing to do too" Vikram sighed knowing this would be something worse. She quickly initiated a group video call, and within seconds, the faces of her two monkeys popped up on the screen.

"Helloo mere janemans" Shreya grinned in happiness. Meera however had a bored look over her face.

"Yaar I am so done. I want to come running at the hostel now. Idhar sab itna boring hai yaar" Meera groaned. She was currently in Kolhapur. Her hometown. Her being introverted with others didn't really help without the two.

"Mere toh maje hi maje hai. You know yesterday i went to Darjeeling and oh my God the view. Dekha na tum logo ne? Meine group pe bhej diya hai. It's so damn beautiful. Aur pata hai. Aaj mein-"

"Thabal? Tu hostel pe hai?" Meera cut her off in between as she noticed Thabal's surrounding. Only then Shreya frowned and watched Thabal's background.

"Haan aaj sham ko hi aayi" Thabal smiled and informed.

"And you know what? I am eating something" with that she showed all the meals Vikram brought, earning a collective gasps.

"Thabal! WHAT THE FUCK!" Shreya yelled in disbelief.

"Tu hostel pe yeh sab kha rahi hai?? Seriously? Woh bhi hamare bina? Dhokebaaz. Makkar. Chor -" Meera just started to cuss when Thabal cut her off in between.

"Aare aare. Patience patience. Twist baki hai" with that she slowly and dramatically turned the camera to face Vikram, who was casually leaning, eating his poha. He looked up to the camera and smirked a little, looking impossibly attractive and completely out of place.

"Tan tan naaaaa" she grinned and sang with a giggle. Turning the camera back to herself she absorbed the look of horror and disbelief on their faces. They look like as if they had seen ghost.

"Yeh yeh. Mr officer hai?" Shreya stuttered in shock. She couldn't believe her eyes.

"But how? Kaise? Like seriously? How is he even there? Matlab HOW??" Meera look flabbergasted. She was stumbling over her own words.

"My delivery man" Thabal grinned proudly, signalling to the food he brought. Meera gasped at it.

"OH MY GOD" She choked out.

"But kaise? Woh kharush warden ne ghusne kaise diya?" Shreya finally asked the question which has been eating both of them up.

"Woh. He told ki he knows the warden. So jaan pehechan ka tha toh you know" Thabal shrugged her shoulder, as if saying 'the rest is history'.

"Ohhhh" they both uttered together in understandment.

"Girl! You are lucky. Like seriously. Behen konse time pe peda huwi thi jo itna aacha luck leke aayi ho" Shreya exclaimed with a laugh. Thabal laughed hearing her. She continued chatting with her friends.

While being in watch by him. His eyes, they were constantly at her. Watching her every move. In between he fed her too. She would open her mouth to eat and then continue to speak with no realisation.

He simply watched her, his expression warm and utterly absorbed. He watched the light catch the residual moisture on her freshly washed skin, noticed her cute pajamas, and saw the complete, unguarded relief shining in her eyes.

She was happy. And him? He was happy just because she was.

In between her bites, she glanced at him too. Meeting his eyes. She would continue to talk, yet at the same smile at him, while getting fed by him. Thabal finished the last bite of the briyani, meeting his gaze. She didn't feel the need to rush or worry.

She was home, and everything in her world felt just right.
